What are Crowns & Bridges?
Bridges and crowns are both restorative dental treatment options that can help you to recover the function and appearance of your smile.
Both can fill space left by missing teeth and can help you to maintain the natural shape of your face, as well as return your ability to both speak and chew properly.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth using a dental crown or bridge, our dentists can change your smile's appearance – and preserve your oral health.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are hollow, artificial teeth that are placed over the top of a decayed or damaged tooth to restore its shape, size and colour to normal. Dental crowns are capable of strengthening and changing the appearance of a damaged tooth that may otherwise have to be extracted.
Crowns are strong and can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain and metal. They look and function like natural teeth, and if cared for properly, can last 10 years or more.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are natural-looking restorations that "bridge" the gap left by a missing tooth or multiple teeth in your mouth. Composed of one or more artificial teeth, this bridge is affixed to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill out the space in your mouth.
A bridge helps to prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space, which could lead to more serious dental issues including gum disease.
